Derinkuyu

Derinkuyu is the name of one of the subterranean cities of the Turkish Cappadocia. It is also the title Roc Herms new publication. It was while visiting Derinkuyu that Herms started thinking of the present society as a labyrinth of spaces interconnected by long tunnels. But it was while spending some time in Seoul that he made the connection with the city subway, and also with the way everyone kept looking at their smartphone screen. A tunnel inside a tunnel inside a tunnel.

In order to boost this ideas, we designed a publication where the page is split in two and the wire-o binding let the reader make all possible combinations, bringing again the idea of the endless paths, unexpected connections, and playful adventures in the maze of the present times.
